Sitting in class

And I am BORED. I figured I'd take some time out of my recently ridiculously busy life and share some of my more recent thoughts. I recently heard that T-Mobile will be bought by AT&T for thirty nine billion dollars. Yeah, that's a lot of money. My biggest fear is that AT&T and Verizon will now have over 70% of the market and a duopoly of sorts will end up developing...not too good for anyone unless you're a major mobile network CEO.

What I've been wondering is how this will affect the T-Mobile clients (such as myself) that must transfer over and at first thought it seemed pretty good. You know, larger data coverage, more support, etc but then it started to hit me; prices will most likely rise, I'm going to have to get a new phone and a brand new plan that will most likely screw me over hard. I guess we'll see what happens after the FCC and the appropriate groups approve this ridiculously huge buyout. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts, how do you think this will affect you even if you're not a T-Mobile or AT&T customer?

  2. I'm not a user of either of their services, but it is a little unsettling when you bring up the duopoly.

  5. Competition is what drives prices lower...and that's the way I'd like to keep it

  7. As a T-mobile customer, coverage won't change much, mine is already amazing. I just know our contract that we have been renewing for the past 8 years or so, which is a steal in today's terms, is going to screwed. I also know from my friends that AT&T has horrid customer service, where as T-mobile has always been nice and accommodating for my family.

  10. As an AT&T customer, I'm happy about this since we will most likely get much better coverage, though I doubt most T-mobile customers are very happy about this.

  12. Not impacted but think it's disgusting that 36bil can be shifted around for technicalities as to what name owns what when people are hungry, sick, unhappy, on the streets, etc
